Answers, on the record.
Everything shippers ask us most — about where we run, how we book and schedule loads, how we stay safe and compliant, and what's on the road under TNT plates.
Service areas
4 common questions — expand any answer below.
Where does TNT run?+
Full truckload and LTL coverage across all ten Canadian provinces, the contiguous United States, and Mexico. Every lane between Vancouver and Monterrey — and most points in between — is a lane we run regularly.
Do you serve remote or seasonal destinations?+
Yes. We routinely run northern BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan resource corridors, plus seasonal ag lanes into the U.S. Midwest and Central Valley. Winter mountain passes are one of the reasons TNT exists.
Can you handle cross-border shipments into Mexico?+
Yes. Dry and refrigerated FTL into Mexico via our interchange partners in Laredo and Nuevo Laredo, with a single TNT point of contact from pickup to final delivery.
Do you offer LTL or only full truckload?+
Both. Describe the shipment and we'll spec the most cost-effective option — dedicated FTL when it makes sense, consolidated LTL when it doesn't.
Scheduling & quotes
5 common questions — expand any answer below.
How fast can you quote a load?+
Same business day — usually within a few hours. Send origin, destination, equipment type, and any temperature requirement, and dispatch comes back with a rate and a pickup plan.
How much notice do you need to book a load?+
For most lanes, 24 to 48 hours. Same-day and next-day pickups are frequently possible depending on origin and equipment — call dispatch directly for urgent freight.
Do you handle appointment-based pickups and deliveries?+
Yes. We run to strict grocery, retail, and pharma appointments daily, with EDI 214 status pushed automatically as the load moves through each milestone.
What are dispatch hours?+
Dispatch operates 24/7/365 — the same team watching the live map answers the phone. Recruiting, accounting, and admin desks run standard business hours in Pacific time.
How do I get a proof of delivery?+
Signed PODs are uploaded automatically the moment the driver closes the load and are available in the customer portal or by email — usually within minutes of delivery.
Safety & compliance
5 common questions — expand any answer below.
What safety certifications do you hold?+
TNT is C-TPAT (U.S. CBP) and PIP (CBSA) certified, runs FAST-approved lanes where available, and is a SmartWay Transport Partner. Our drivers are TDG-certified and our shop follows an ISO 9001-aligned QMS.
How do you handle border paperwork?+
ACE (U.S.) and ACI (Canada) electronic manifests are filed in advance of every crossing, and our procedures follow C-TPAT security initiatives end-to-end. Documentation is a planned step, not a reaction.
What's your safety record?+
We sit in the top decile of North American carriers on CSA and CVOR scoring, with a DOT recordable rate well below the industry average. Every incident, near-miss, or customer concern is reviewed weekly by safety and operations together.
Are you insured for high-value freight?+
Yes. Standard cargo coverage of USD $250,000 per load, with higher limits available on request for pharmaceutical, electronics, and high-value industrial shipments.
How are drivers trained?+
Every new hire completes an eight-week onboarding program built around winter mountain corridors, urban delivery, cross-border compliance, and TNT-specific customer handling procedures.
Equipment
5 common questions — expand any answer below.
What trailer types do you operate?+
Four: 53-ft dry vans, 53-ft heated vans, 53-ft refrigerated trailers, and 48–53-ft flatbeds (with step-deck available). Every unit is on air-ride suspension and maintained on a 90-day preventive cycle.
What temperature range can you hold?+
From −25 °C deep-freeze up to +40 °C heated, maintained by Thermo King units with active ventilation, circulation, and continuous datalogging on every load.
How new is the fleet?+
Tractors average under four years in service and are 100% CARB-compliant. Trailers are refreshed on a rolling program so no unit is in service past its optimal maintenance window.
Can you handle over-dimensional or oversize freight?+
Yes, within jurisdictional limits. Our flatbed division regularly moves coils, structural steel, presses, and permitted oversize equipment across multi-state routes.
Do you have specialized equipment for chemicals or hazmat?+
We run non-hazmat industrial fluids on dedicated units and select placarded hazmat lanes with TDG-certified drivers and pre-planned routing. Contact dispatch with your specific commodity for confirmation.
